The 5th International Basketball Conference entitled “Excellence in Basketball” is scheduled to take place at the National Basketball Academy in Pécs, Hungary, on January 22 and 23, 2024. Science will once again be in the crosshairs, and several basketball legends have been invited to speak, including 55-year-old Italian coach, Andrea Trinchieri!
Italy gives us highly skilled, charismatic coaches (also) in basketball, armed with vast basketball expertise – just think of Ettore Messina, Sergio Scariolo, or Andrea Trinchieri. Four-time Euroleague champion Messina addressed attendees at the first conference in Pécs via recording, and on January 22 and 23, 2024, at the fifth conference, Scariolo, who won world and European Championship with the Spanish Men National Team, along with Trinchieri, will be in person at the National Basketball Academy!
Born in Milano, 55-year-old Andrea Trinchieri worked as Olimpia Milano’s assistant coach from 1998 until 2004. Later, as a head coach, he led teams like the Russian UNICS Kazan, with which he won the Russian Cup in 2014, the German Brose Bamberg, which he guided to three championship titles (2014/2015, 2015/2016, 2016/2017), the Serbian Partizan Belgrade, which he led to two Serbian Cup victories (2019, 2020) as well as the ABA Liga Super Cup in 2019, and the Bayern Munich, which he led two times to German Cup Champion (2021, 2023).
– As an enthusiastic supporter of basketball academies, I am delighted to have the opportunity to take part in the next conference. I have heard nothing but positive things about the National Basketball Academy in Pécs and the work that they are doing. The conference’s slogan, „Excellence in basketball” is appropriate – according to Andrea Trinchieri, who was named the best coach of the 2014 European Cup and the Italian championship twice (in 2010 and 2011). – In basketball, science is becoming more and more significant. Today, the most crucial objective is for coaches to use the science and basketball- specific knowledge in a way that maximizes their productivity.
Presenter of the FIBA Europe Coaching Certificate course, Andrea Trinchieri will provide two practical and one theoretical lecture at the 5th International Basketball Conference. He will also participate in a roundtable discussion centered around the theme of „Effective communication within the coaching staff”.
